Meet The Team

People are the most important part of our business, that is why we invest in them more than anywhere else.

The cornerstone around which any business must be built is its people; they are by a distance the most important factor in determining success for both the client and for the business itself. Our people are therefore where we invest most heavily and we are committed to them in a way that is befitting of their importance.

We employ a dedicated performance coach in order to allow our people to maximise their potential whilst also offering unlimited professional mental health support to ensure that they can find the right balance.

Ed Senior

Ed has more than 25 years’ experience working within the financial services industry and is also a chartered management accountant. He started out his career back in 1998 at Salomon Brothers, which ultimately became Citigroup, working within the equity derivatives and multi asset derivatives trading desks. There he spent time structuring and delivering investment solutions, utilising derivatives, and liquid alternatives, to clients across the globe. During his time at Citi, Ed established and ran their European asset management business growing assets from zero to several billion. After leaving Citigroup in 2013, Ed joined up with former Citigroup colleagues to build and establish a boutique asset management firm specialising in derivative based funds. Having completed his tenure there, in 2016 Ed left to set-up Fortem Capital, which together with the rest of the Fortem Team, aims to establish itself as the premier boutique asset management firm specialising in liquid alternatives solutions for the institutional marketplace.

Kevin Gray

Kevin is Chief Investment Officer and chairs the Fortem Capital Global Investment Committee. He began his career at Brooks Macdonald Asset Management before joining Bordier, where he was an Investment Director and sat on both the firm’s Investment and Management Committees. Kevin has over 10 years’ experience within the financial services industry and alternative investments. He graduated from Durham University and is a CFA charterholder.

Chris Dagg

Chris has worked within the financial services industry since 2002 and is also a chartered management accountant. Formerly a trader on the securitisation desk at Citigroup, he was responsible for the creation, trading and risk management of investment linked securities issued by Citi, totalling some 1,000 products and $3 billion in asset value. After leaving Citi, Chris joined a boutique investment house, structuring and pricing derivative based investments whilst overseeing all primary and secondary market activity.

Mark Denny

Mark joined Fortem Capital in October 2022. Mark began his career at Baring Asset Management in 1993. Between 1993 and 2014, Mark rotated through a wide variety of roles, gaining detailed experience within Operations, fund administration, IT and management accounting. Between 2014 and 2016, Mark was recruited to become the Chief Operating Officer of Nevsky Capital, one of the world’s leading global long / short equity fund management firms. Between 2016 and 2022, Mark joined 1167 Capital as Chief Operating Officer at its inception. Mark was instrumental in the initial set-up of this global fixed income business and the three fixed income UCITS funds.

Keith Fielden

Keith joined Fortem in February 2024 as Compliance and Risk Officer. Keith has +30 years in the finance industry specializing in operations and compliance. Following 18 years at HSBC International, where Keith worked in a variety of roles including Eurobonds and Head of the Portfolio Management desk, Keith joined JO Hambro Capital Management as Head of Hedge Funds Operations. Keith has worked with several early-stage managers throughout his career, holding both the COO and CCO roles, including acting as SMF17/16.

Elie Bonin

Elie is a Senior Developer with over ten years of experience within the financial sector. He holds a French MSc in Computer Science applied to Financial Markets. Prior to joining Fortem Capital in 2023, Elie served as a quant developer at Segantii Capital, then ran the Digital Asset desk at GHCO LLP. Through this varied professional journey, Elie has gained a profound technical insight into the intricacies of the industry.

Fred Wilkins

Fred currently drives Fortem's Flow Solutions business covering professional investors. Fred specialises in both equity and cross asset derivative based solutions. In the six years Fred has been with Fortem, he has worked across multiple desks, notably heading up the Trading Desk before transitioning to Sales. Fred completed his MBA in Canada in 2017. He is an avid sportsman who also enjoys travelling having spent much of his childhood in South Africa.

Chris Lowe

Chris joined Fortem Capital in August 2024 as a Business Development Manager, where he is responsible for distributing the firm’s range of UCITS funds and bespoke investment solutions to investment professionals across the UK. With over 15 years of experience in the financial services sector, Chris began his career managing the centralised investment proposition at an IFA firm. He later transitioned to sales after moving to London, taking on business development roles since 2011. Notably, Chris has held key positions at Fidelity, where he distributed funds across all asset classes, and RM Funds, focusing on alternative investment strategies in infrastructure and real assets. Outside of work, Chris is an avid sports enthusiast. While he enjoys a wide variety of sports, golf has emerged as his primary passion in recent years.

Sam Blain

Sam joined Fortem Capital in 2023 as a Business Development Analyst. He began his career as an analyst at an investment management firm, where he completed a three-month internship before moving to the Investment Association (IA). Over the course of two years at the IA, Sam gained valuable industry experience before joining Fortem Capital. Sam holds a degree from the University of Exeter and has earned the CFA ESG Investing Certificate, in addition to successfully passing Level 1 of the CFA Program.

Finlay joined Fortem Capital in July 2022 as an Operations Analyst, shortly after graduating from the University of Liverpool with a joint honour’s degree in Mathematics & French. His degree includes studies in financial mathematics & statistics, learning which has continued to develop during his time at Fortem. He also took a gap year during his studies, which was dedicated to advancing his linguistic skills in French. Finlay likes to spend his free time playing football, continuing his language studies & having fun with friends and family.

Devak Rattan

In 2023, Devak assumed the role of Operations Analyst at Fortem Capital, immediately following the successful completion of his honour’s degree in Economics and Management from the University of Portsmouth. His academic focus included an in-depth exploration of financial modelling and Quantitative Economics, skills that have seen further refinement within the dynamic environment of Fortem. Post-graduation, Devak embarked on a journey through Asia, during which he became an integral part of a self-defence camp—an annual pursuit fuelled by his fervour the discipline. Outside the professional realm, he dedicates his time to contributing to a local cricket and tennis club, as well as engaging in strategic pursuits such as chess and various problem-solving activities.

Christopher Stafford

Christopher has worked in the financial services industry since 2005 where he began his career at Credit Suisse working in the fixed income division before joining the hedge fund James Caird Asset Management. He then joined the family office Talisman Global Asset Management where he held a number of responsibilities and was part of the investment team. He then spent time at the credit manager Neve Capital as the portfolio manager and most recently he was trading for his own business before joining Fortem. Over his career Christopher has gained a deep insight into trading and risk management. Outside of the professional realm he is a keen fly fisherman, skier and cricketer.

Hari Kumarakurparan

Hari joined Fortem Capital as a Trading Analyst in 2023, having graduated from Imperial College London with a first-class master’s in chemistry. His master’s thesis was in molecular physics; which won him a prize in his final year; where he helped explore efficiency challenges in perovskite solar cells, using cutting-edge, ultrafast laser techniques to consolidate the works of both Imperial and Oxford University. In his free time, Hari loves to play poker, and is also a keen reader, having been an Editor for his university’s paper.

Will sits as a principal Frontend engineer at Fortem focusing on quality UI & UX. He has exposure across a variety of different industries and holds the mentality that anything is possible. After completing his undergraduate degree in 2021, Will spent a year in Australia working in the heart of Sydney gaining invaluable experience. In his free time you can find him exploring London, exercising at the gym or on the golf course.

Dan Herley

Dan joined Fortem Capital as an Investment Analyst in 2023, with just over two years of experience in financial services. He holds a dual bachelor's degree specialising in finance from Dublin City University and NEOMA Business School, having graduated with first class honours. Following this, he completed an MSc in Quantitative Finance at Grenoble École de Management, where he graduated top of his class. His previous roles include positions at UBS and Quintet Private Bank, with the latter focusing on portfolio construction and strategy for multi-asset funds. Dan has passed Level II of the CFA Program and is fluent in French.

Adam Lavelle

Adam joined Fortem Capital as an Investment Analyst in 2025, bringing over three years of experience in financial services. Prior to this role, Adam worked as an Asset Allocation Strategist at Quintet Private Bank, focusing on multi-asset funds and the integration of liquid alternatives into discretionary portfolios. He holds a bachelor's degree in Economics from University College Dublin and an MSc in Finance from Trinity College Dublin. He has also passed Level I of the CAIA Program.

Jonny began his career at Salomon Brothers (later Citigroup) where he was an MD in equity derivatives. He then spent 12 years at Brevan Howard, where he was a Partner managing $500m of risk. He produced positive returns of up to 18.4% pa with a worst year return of 4.6%. For the past four years Jonny as managed his own capital and writes an institutional daily macro research letter. He has a degree in engineering from Imperial College and an MBA from City University.

Stefan Wagner

Stefan embarked on his career within the financial services industry more than 25 years ago. Starting out as a derivative structurer in 1994 at Bankers Trust, two years later he went on to establish and run Citigroup's European exotic options trading desk. There he ran one of the largest, most active, and consistently profitable equity option trading teams globally. He was credited with developing a number of innovations in the interbank option market. Latterly, Stefan ran Citi's European structured products business where he developed a range of investment products and funds. Over $50 billion of these investments were successfully placed with high net worth and institutional clients.
